Unknown drone attack on oil tanker MT Petro Dolphin off Oman coast, two Indian crew members missing

A serious incident involving commercial vessels being targeted has once again emerged in the strategically sensitive maritime regions of the Middle East. An oil tanker anchored near the Sohar Anchorage off the coast of Oman was struck by a suspected drone attack.

According to international shipping data and preliminary reports, the vessel caught in this dangerous attack is the Nicaragua-flagged tanker "MT PETRO DOLPHIN". This incident has heightened global concerns regarding trade via maritime routes near Gulf nations and the safety of the crew members deployed there.

According to the reports received, the incident took place in the Sohar Anchorage area, where the vessel was waiting for its turn. Following this sudden drone attack, the tanker suffered significant damage and caught fire. Upon receiving information about the attack, local maritime authorities and the Coast Guard sprang into action immediately.

Coast Guard and rescue teams acted promptly to safely evacuate 9 of the Indian crew members aboard the vessel. However, two Indian crew members are reported missing in this incident, and a large-scale search operation is underway by local administration and rescue teams to locate them.

Following this incident, diplomatic activity has intensified at the global level. Navies and maritime security agencies of various countries are conducting a strategic review to ensure the safety of vessels in this region.

Experts believe that if such attacks on commercial vessels are not curbed, international shipping and the global energy supply chain could be severely impacted. Currently, the coastal administration of Oman is conducting a thorough investigation into the entire matter.
